Senior Infants on Tour

The two Senior Infant classes joined together for a wild day at Dublin Zoo. We saw giraffes, flamingos and red pandas plus plenty more. Here are a few photos from the trip.

Engineering Week in Second Class

The girls in Second Class were busy learning about engineering during the week. They learned about all the different types of engineers there are and then got a chance to become structural engineers for the afternoon. They worked in groups to complete various challenges and experimented with ways to build structures that were tall, small, wide or narrow. They all had a great time and maybe some of the girls will go on to become engineers when they’re older.

Engineering Week 2018

As part of engineering week, Mr. Devlin’s Third Class learned about lots of different aspects of engineering. We learned about the work of Isambard Kingdowm Brunel, the great Victorian engineer. He famously built the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. The girls designed and built their own suspensions bridges which I think you’ll agree are very good. Maybe one of the girls will be the future engineer of the ‘Dublin Suspension Bridge’…… who knows?

Irish Aid

Our Third Class girls have been working very hard over the past few months on their Irish Aid project. Irish Aid is an organisation that helps to fight against poverty in developing countries. The girls created a video highlighting the importance of the global goals. This video earned Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní) a place in the Regional Finals in Dublin and a special distinction award. Congratulations!

Clothes From Around the World

Our senior classes have been exploring the different clothes worn in various cultures around the world. We got a chance to see some of these clothes, as the girls very kindly brought them from home. They had great fun modelling for the other classes.Part 1- Clothes from around the world

Cross Country Champions!!!

A huge congratulations to our Cross Country Team who won the Fingal Athletics League Group C for the very first time.

Last Tuesday our Cross Country team headed off to Santry to take part in the final session of this year’s Fingal League.

Once again all our runners did their very best and ran some superb races. There were some fantastic performances in each age group.

Aimee Corcoran put in a wonderful performance to win the 3rd Class race with Adele Anigala following close behind to finish in a very impressive 3rd place. In the 5th Class race Aoife Corcoran once again put in an outstanding performance to cross the line in first place.

Several other girls finished their races within the top ten positions showing just how much they have improved since the beginning of the series. When all the scores were added up, our girls were delighted to be presented with the winners’ plaque . A well deserved reward for all the effort they put in throughout the last number of months.

Congratulations to all the girls involved and to their coach Mr Mc Crudden. We are very proud of you all.

Maith Sibh.

First Holy Communion

The girls in Second Class received the sacrament of First Holy Communion last Saturday, 29th April. The sun shone and everyone had a great day. Many thanks to the parents of girls in First Class who came along to help with the tea and coffee for the reception.

Cross Country Running

On Tuesday 20th March, 24 girls from 3rd-6th class headed off to Porterstown Park to take part in the third day of the Fingal Cross Country series. It was a lovely , bright , crisp, cold sunny day – ideal for cross country running.

Once again , we had fantastic performances from all of the Scoil Bhríde girls with each one of them putting in a huge effort and showing great improvement since their last outing.

Outstanding performances from Adele Anigala and Aimee Corcoran (3rd class) who finished a superb race in 4th place and 2nd place respectively , Ola Kuzma (4th class) who finished in a very good 6th place and Aoife Corcoran (5th Class) who paced herself excellently to take the lead in the final stretch and win the race in style.

Well done to all!

The final event in this series will be held in Santry Park on Tuesday 10th April.

Keep up the running during the Easter Holidays, girls.
