Incoming Junior Infants

There will be a meeting tonight, Thursday 30th May at 8.00pm for the PARENTS and GUARDIANS of the new Junior Infants who will be joining us in September. This is a meeting for adults, not for the children, as per the letter sent to all parents some time ago. Looking forward to meeting our new parents this evening.

Trip to Dublin Zoo

The girls in Senior Infants had a wonderful day at Dublin Zoo. They saw many different animals and really enjoyed their day out. They all arrived home tired but happy!

Engineers at Work

Throughout the school, the girls have been working with wheels, pulleys, magnets, building blocks and other tools of the engineer’s profession. They have discovered all sorts of interesting things about various aspects of engineering projects. In these photos, the girls in First Class show us some of their work. Well done to all.

Chinese New Year

Some Chinese lanterns from First Class and some Chinese dragons from Third Class to mark the start of the Chinese New Year.

Cake Sale

The Parent’s Association ran a very successful cake sale on Tuesday. Some parents came to the school and, with the help of cake donations from every class, a fun day was had by all. The girls in Sixth Class helped to sell the cakes. The sale raised €313.55. Well done and thanks to all who baked, bought, sold or came along!

Gymnastics Day

The girls had a wonderful day when Ms. O’Reilly took every class for a specialised gymnastics lesson. There were great displays of rolling, balancing and weight-bearing to mention just a few of the skills the girls explored on the day. In fact, this was such a success, we think we should do it again! Many thanks to Ms. O’Reilly who is our resident gymnastics expert in Scoil Bhríde!

Tír Eolas / Geography
Italy is shaped like a beautiful boot!
Can you figure out the names of the countries surrounding France?

‘Tír Eolas’ is translated as ‘ Knowledge about Countries’ or ‘Knowledge about the Land’. Here, in Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní), we know how important Geography is – probably because we come from so many different lands! Have a look at a beautiful maps of Italy and of France, made by the girls in 3rd and 5th Classes.

Carol Singers

Wonderful News!

The girls in Fifth Class were joined in the Town Centre on Friday last by the musicians from 4th to 6th, for a truly fabulous carol-singing session. The girls did themselves and the school proud. They looked wonderful in full uniform and they sang and played their hearts out. Everyone who was there was very impressed by them. Thanks to the parents who came along to support the girls. Many people with no connection to the school passed by and stopped to congratulate the wonderful performance and the great ambassadors the girls are.

The two Fifth Class teachers, Ms. Clíona Ní Chiosáin and Ms. Kathleen O’Reilly, deserve our heartfelt gratitude for the superb work they have done with their classes in preparation for this carol-singing event over many weeks. No stone was left unturned by them in the preparation for this event. Apart from the extensive repertoire the girls learned, they have also learned, from these two teachers, the value of detailed preparation. Well done to both of them!

As usual, our musicians surpassed themselves too. Tin whistles, violins, accordions, guitar, bodhrán and tambourine blended together to add considerably to the beautiful musical experience had by all. Again, the musicians have learned the value of good preparation and rehearsal. Thanks to Ms. O’Connor and to Ms. Carthy for their dedicated work in bringing the musicians to this level for their performance.

A special word of thanks must go to our bucket-shakers from Fourth Class. Their wonderful smiles made it very difficult for anyone to pass by, without contributing to the great cause of collecting money for Focus Ireland, to help with the terrible problem of homelessness this Christmas.

The girls and their teachers raised a massive €1,010 euros for Focus Ireland. This is a really magnificent achievement by everyone and we are very proud of all concerned.

Parent Association Fundraiser!

The Parent Association had the great idea of organising a Christmas Jumper Fundraiser Day ( 2 euros) on the day of the holidays! So, if you have a Christmas jumper, wear it on Friday 21st. If not, get creative and make your very own unique creation! Tinsel, baubles, decorations… get into the spirit of Christmas!

Ho, ho, ho and a Happy Christmas 2018 to all, from Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní) Parent Association!

Nativity Plays

Many of the children have been preparing for the annual Nativity Play. No doubt they have been rehearsing lines and songs at home for some time! If parents are available to come to the school at the following times, they will see their child on stage. If the times below do not suit you, you might be able to catch  a dress rehearsal (talk to the class teacher).  If you cannot come to the school for a performance this year, don’t worry! There will be other occasions when you will get to see a school show – or your daughter might even be able to give you a one-girl show at home over the Christmas holidays!
