The girls in Fifth Class were joined in the Town Centre on Friday last by the musicians from 4th to 6th, for a truly fabulous carol-singing session. The girls did themselves and the school proud. They looked wonderful in full uniform and they sang and played their hearts out. Everyone who was there was very impressed by them. Thanks to the parents who came along to support the girls. Many people with no connection to the school passed by and stopped to congratulate the wonderful performance and the great ambassadors the girls are.
The two Fifth Class teachers, Ms. Clíona Ní Chiosáin and Ms. Kathleen O’Reilly, deserve our heartfelt gratitude for the superb work they have done with their classes in preparation for this carol-singing event over many weeks. No stone was left unturned by them in the preparation for this event. Apart from the extensive repertoire the girls learned, they have also learned, from these two teachers, the value of detailed preparation. Well done to both of them!
As usual, our musicians surpassed themselves too. Tin whistles, violins, accordions, guitar, bodhrán and tambourine blended together to add considerably to the beautiful musical experience had by all. Again, the musicians have learned the value of good preparation and rehearsal. Thanks to Ms. O’Connor and to Ms. Carthy for their dedicated work in bringing the musicians to this level for their performance.
A special word of thanks must go to our bucket-shakers from Fourth Class. Their wonderful smiles made it very difficult for anyone to pass by, without contributing to the great cause of collecting money for Focus Ireland, to help with the terrible problem of homelessness this Christmas.
The girls and their teachers raised a massive €1,010 euros for Focus Ireland. This is a really magnificent achievement by everyone and we are very proud of all concerned.
