Football League

After the girls’ football team had played all their matches against other schools a few weeks ago, Mr. Devlin, Mr. McCrudden and Mr. Maguire organised a mini-league for any of the girls in 4th, 5th and 6th who were interested in taking part. We were delighted when 34 eager players raised their hands!
The league began last Monday (November 13th) and the girls were organised into four teams: Dublin, Monaghan, Kerry and Mayo. Quickly, it became very clear that all friendships were put to one side for the good of the team! All the skills that had been practised since September were on show and the coaches were very pleased to see great teamwork, tackling and most importantly, that all the girls were taking part and having fun!
A total of four matches were played last Monday, with the final two matches played this Monday (November 20th). At the end of six very entertaining contests, the two teams at the top of the league were Monaghan and Kerry. They will play each other in the final next week, which will take part in front of the whole school. Dublin and Mayo will also play each other in the 3rd and 4th place play-off. Both of these matches promise to be exciting encounters and we look forward to seeing who comes out on top!
